Primary School

The primary school encompasses junior kindergarten through fifth grade. The goal of the primary school is to engage children academically in an environment that embraces childhood and the journey of learning. Each learner is encouraged to find and build upon his or her strengths.

Our unique teams of teachers and low student-teacher ratio foster the development of meaningful relationships between teachers and students. Students feel known and supported, which is crucial for strong social and emotional intelligence as well as engagement in learning. Our teaching model also facilitates a natural differentiation for individual learners. Students work in small groups or one-on-one with a teacher. Collaboration is key in the primary school, and children spend much of their time learning by doing.

Each primary school grade explores different subject areas through integrated units based on student and teacher interest and passions. Our approach provides students with opportunities to bring their own learning styles to the classroom, learning through multiple modes, and applying their knowledge across many subject areas. The primary school program is enriched by the students’ participation in specialist classes including drama, art, music, projects lab, physical education and garden. Specialist teachers integrate their programs with the classroom curriculum to enhance the learning experience and create a rich program for our primary school students.
